GENERAL INFORMATION

If you are local to Southern Africa, your puppy will be available for collection at the age of 8 weeks. If you are an overseas buyer, your puppy must be a little older in order to be able to more easily handle the travelling experience. We normally ship overseas pups at the age of 10 weeks, which is the minimum age at which the airlines will accept them; this can also be done later if specifically required.

If you are a South African buyer, it will be best for your puppy if you personally pick him up from Induna, so he does not suffer too much additional travelling trauma from simultaneously being separated from his mother and siblings. If personal collection is not possible, we can arrange delivery directly to you.

If you are an overseas buyer you will have your puppy air-freighted to the destination of your choice; he or she will travel in the appropriate container as defined by the airline and governmental authorities, and all freight charges, veterinary certification and other such costs will be to your account.

Whether you are a local or overseas buyer, all of the paperwork relevant to your Induna puppy will be sent to you under separate cover, by insured post. This is your guarantee that the puppy you receive is the puppy which left our kennels.

Whether you are a local or overseas buyer, the purchase of your Induna Boerboel will be subject to our Conditions of Sale. This comprises a simple agreement which carries guarantees and protection for both parties to the contract of sale. The Conditions of Sale are outlined at the end of this section.

QUALITY CATEGORIES OF PUPPIES AVAILABLE

All Induna puppies or dogs are sold as registered boerboel pups, their parents having been registered with the breeders' associations and the pups themselves being registered at the time of sale by our issuing official breeders' association birth certificates. However, prices charged for the pups vary according not only to the overall quality of their parents (and therefore of the pups) but also according to the quality of the individual puppy itself.

Most Induna puppies are sold as breeding quality dogs, which means that they will meet the requirements of the Breeding Standard to such a degree that they may be registered as breeding dogs with the breeders' associations at the age of 12 months.

A Quality Pup

Furthermore, 20% of the pups in each litter are selected at the age of approximately 4 - 6 weeks as "pick of litter". This proportion will normally be one, or possibly two, pups out of a litter which exhibit outstandingly good characteristics in terms of the Breeding Standard.

Finally, it may occur that certain pups are sold as "Pet Quality" due to their possessing attributes which are regarded as being undesirable by the Breeding Standard. These are normally very minor things which are of no significance at all in terms of the dog itself, such as too much white colouration, pink pads or claws, blue eyes, improperly aligned teeth, wrongly shaped ears or feet, too long or slightly kinked hair, etc.

"Defects" of this nature do not of course affect the well-being of the dog in any way, and the dog itself is blissfully unaware of them. "Pet Quality" dogs are therefore just as much fun and just as good to the non-breeding owner as are their slightly more expensive brothers and sisters.

FEEDING YOUR PUPPY

Induna boerboel

Your Induna Boerboel pup will have been weaned off of his mother's milk onto a premium quality dry dog food. It is recommended that this diet be maintained to ensure your puppy's health and to optimise his growth.

We strongly recommend that you maintain your dog's diet on one of the premium quality dog foods which are available only from veterinarians. Since the Boerboel is one of the larger breeds of dog and has a very rapid rate of growth, the correctness of his diet is critical to his healthy development and to his muscle and joint formation.

A raw bone is good for cleaning teeth and exercising jaw muscles.

INJECTIONS AND DE-WORMING

Your puppy will have already received his preliminary vaccination against general ailments. This will have been entered onto his Veterinary Certificate, which also shows the date when his next vaccination will be due. The Veterinary Certificate should be kept up to date at all times and taken along to your vet whenever further update vaccinations are to be done.

Similarly, de-worming will already have been done at regular intervals since before your puppy's birth. This regular routine should also be maintained; your vet will advise you of details.

IDENTITY CHIP

Your puppy will have already received his identity micro-chip which has been implanted beneath the skin in the shoulder-blade/neck area. This chip carries a unique number which may be read with the appropriate electronic scanner and which will serve to identify your dog for the rest of his life. This is of great importance if you should lose your dog or if you intend to breed with him or her. Full details will be supplied to you of the identification procedure, and of both the identification chip supplier and the number of the chip itself.

FAMILIARISATION AND TRAINING

Your puppy will have been regularly handled and played with from birth so that he will already recognise people as his friends. This applies to all people, so that care should be taken not to expose him to potential theft situations - in his early months he will happily go off with anybody who talks to him.

We know that your Induna Boerboel will give you the greatest pleasure that he or she can, since Boerboels by nature thrive upon love and affection. If there is any further advice or information which we can help you with, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Remember that the more effort you put into looking after your Boerboel, the greater will be the enjoyment and reward which you get back from the relationship.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

Induna Boerboels will warrant that the puppy purchased is as described in the documentation supplied, and as verified by the implanted electronically detectable identity chip.

Induna Boerboels will further warrant that the puppy supplied has been bred from the parents specified and described in the documentation; all particulars of the puppy's parentage, ancestry and physical characteristics are warranted as being correct in terms of the information provided by the breeding association which records the said information. Furthermore, Induna warrants that all veterinary certificates relating to the puppy purchased are supplied in good faith and that said certificates relate to the puppy supplied.

1. Guarantee

It is never possible to give an unlimited guarantee on any dog.

However, on a breeding quality dog, we will normally guarantee that the dog's hips would be no more than a level of 2-2 at the age of 12 months, which is within the breeding standard of all of the breeding associations. We only use 0-0 males for breeding; no female with a hip worse than 1-2 or 2-1 is used in our breeding programme, and we would expect therefore that your pup's hips would be in the order of 0 or 1 at 12 months of age. We would therefore normally undertake to replace any dog which had hips worse than 2-2 at the age of 12 months, subject to veterinary certification of the fact, and of other conditions' being fulfilled.

Furthermore, we also guarantee that your female pup will be free of vaginal prolapse, and that all pups will be free of eye entropion or ectropion. We also guarantee that all of our breeding quality pups will point in excess of 80% at an SABT appraisal, at 12 months of age. The above guarantee is subject to veterinary certification of proof of stated defects; we would then replace the dog upon receipt of a euthanasia certificate in respect thereof. This we know seems a bit harsh, but you must appreciate that we would be laying ourselves open to all kinds of abuse if we did not insist on this pre-condition.
2. Documentation Supplied

Documentation supplied with your dog comprises the following:

  • Birth/Registration certificates of both parents.
  • Hip dysplasia certificates of both parents.
  • Prolapse and eye in/ectropion veterinary certificates.
  • Identipet microchip ID for the pup.
  • Vaccination Certificate for the pup.
  • Whatever else we can supply at your request.
