| Induna Boerboels is situated on a 4,6 acre plot in a small-farms
agricultural area situated some dozen kilometres from Johannesburg
International Airport, in Gauteng Province in the Republic of South
Africa.
All of our dogs are kept in recently constructed facilities, and
each dog has his or her own living quarters comprising an exercise
area of between 20 and 30 square metres. Each living area is provided
with a brick-built kennel of 1,5 sq. metres internal dimensions,
with wooden sleeping platforms softened by conveyor belting and
jute sacks. |

Kennels |
The dogs are exercised on a daily rota system whereby they frequently
leave their quarters for daylight or overnight sessions in extensive exercise
areas or in the main residential family portion of the plot.

Puppy Weaning |
Thereby they obtain, and benefit from, close contact
with the family members, experiencing familiarisation, inter-relating
and bonding with people, as well as obtaining training in basic good
manners, motor vehicle familiarity and avoidance.
Particular attention is paid to small puppies in this regard,
insofar as they are handled, talked to, and loved from birth; a
puppy leaving Induna at 8 weeks of age already knows that people
are the source of all love, affection, food, fun and everything
else that a puppy needs ….. he or she is, therefore, already very
well-adjusted with regard to people and his or her future relationship
with them. |
| This being Southern Africa, and therefore warm in
climate, fleas and ticks constantly pose a health threat to dogs.
During the summer months, and less frequently in winter, all Induna
dogs are hand-dipped regularly in order to maintain their vermin-free
status and condition. We also have a separate dipping area, complete
with a proper, full-sized cast iron bath, as well as solar-heated
water laid on for the ladies' comfort.
Induna Boerboels are bred and brought up in the healthiest and
most commodious surroundings, as well as receiving the best possible
healthcare and personality development opportunities. |

Feeding of the dogs is accomplished using top quality veterinarian-recommended
pellets; each dog receives his or her twice-daily (three times for
puppies) measured ration of the most appropriate food for each individual
dog, according to its age, pregnancy/lactating status, etc. No diet
supplements are used on a regular basis, since the pellets that we
use are normally self-sufficient to maintain top condition in the
dogs.
Pregnant mums-to-be are moved into one of our four whelping pens
a week before the puppies are due, to enable them to acclimatize
to their changed surroundings before the pups arrive. Each whelping
pen is equipped with electric lights and heaters, and has its own
individual outdoor exercise area, separate from the "nursery". This
enables Mum to step outside for a walk around and to get a break
from the kids whenever she feels so inclined.
Puppy Feeding Time |
| Trips to the vet, to shows and/or appraisals, are accomplished with
our dedicated bakkie (or van, pick-up or ute, depending on where in
the world you call home) and four-berth trailer.
