Exporting Boerboels to Europe

Dogs entering Europe from SA Restrictions.

  • The dog as the age of 3 months has to have a rabies vaccine
  • This vaccine has to be repeated at the age of 4 months old
  • As well as the Rabies vaccine the dog has to have blood drawn for a testing which is sent away to Onderstepoort Academic Animal Veterinary Hospital.
  • We are notified of the results within a few days and if clear the dog is allowed to leave SA 90 days from the date of the last test.

What happens from the all clear is that the dog stays with the breeder in its home environment until day of export.

This obviously is a disadvantage to the person requiring a young puppy of 10 weeks old but never the less does have a few major advantages.

We at Induna Boerboels test all our Boerboels kept for breeding at the age of 6 months old for hip and elbow dysplasia. Any dog with a hip and elbow grade of 1 or more is not used in our breeding programe. This gives you the customer the comforting knowledge that whilst you are obtaining an older dog you know that you are not going to have genetically defected Hips or elbows.

The dogs are also socialized whilst staying at the kennel and given the greatest of love.

The disadvantages are that the dog has to be transported in a bigger crate which is extra cost, also that kenneling costs have to also be covered.

This is worked out very fairly for both parties concerned.
